Nizamabad: Demanding that the State government either revive the Nizamabad Cooperative Sugar Factory (NCSF) or hand it over to the Farmers Producers Organisation (FPO), shareholders of the company launched a padayatra from Thirmanpally village, on Monday.
The Padayatra, led by NCSF protection committee chairman K Sai Reddy, will cover 90 villages spread across eight mandals and conclude in front of the Nizamabad Collector’s Office on April 12. A massive public meeting will also be organised on the same day. Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) national general secretary Mohini Misra and leaders of various farmers’ associations were present during the padayatra launch.
Speaking on the occasion, K Sai Reddy demanded that the government take a final decision on the NCSF immediately. “Either the government should take steps to revive the company, or hand it over to the shareholders-promoted FPO,” he said. He also recalled how the company workers, during the TDP regime, prevented the then State government from privatising the factory. NCSF has a total of 350 shareholders and all of them are in support of the protest, he added.
Detail background
Factory (NCSF) was established in the year 1962 and in 1964 crushing was started. Till now we have earned 2 crores 85 lakhs of shares with the help of 23,216 farmers. 117 Villages and 1000 members of employees and 10,000 Farmer labourers were survived using this factory.
Till 1996 NCSF was in Profit. At that time government held by Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu Garu of TDP (Telugu Desam Party) has issued a GO to privatize 12 Sugar factories in the cooperative sector in the united state of Andhra Pradesh.
Bharatiya Kisan Sangh filed an appeal in the High court and won against that privatization GO.
Against Government Privatization, on Nizamabad Cooperative Sugar Factory area 2001 and 2003 Sri SayaReddy Kondela went to the court and won the Battle. From 2004 onwards congress Government held by Sri Y.S Rajashekhar Reddy ran the factory till 2008.
Hereafter the Person in charge district collector and the Minister during that period wanted to close the factory. In 2014 on June 2nd Telangana state was formed. At the time of the elections TRS party chief and present CM Sri. K., Chandra Shekar Rao Garu gave a promise if he could win the 2014 elections to run any of the Cooperative sugar factories which are established in Telangana.
CM did not keep his promise and thereafter Bharatiya Kisan Sangh and NCSF Parirakshana Committee chairman Sri SayaReddy Kondela done many demonstrations and Darnas against Government. As any of the action did not take by the Government and didn’t agree to give the factory to the shareholders Sri SayaReddy Kondela has started a “Padayatra” from 15-03-2021 to 12-04-2021.
The program is to visit 90 Villages in 29 days Mobilize the farmers and enhance the use of the factory. The main Motive of the Programmer is to benefit the 500 members employment for the Farmers children and to give life to 5000 families by producing the sugarcane crop.
The Padayatra was started by Sri SayaReddy Kondela and the chief Guest was Sri Mohini Mohan Mishra (Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, All India secretary) on 15-03-2021 and Sri Raja Reddy (Bharatiya Kisan Sangh state General secretary). The Padayatra will be completed on 12-04-2021 at the Collector office Nizamabad by addressing a Public meeting.
