Kisan Sangh to hold march in Ahmedabad on Cotton price issue

Ahmedabad, 11 December 2014:
Bharatiya Kisan Sangh(BKS) will hold a rally in Ahmedabad on 15 December over cotton price issue.
BKS wants increase in minimum support price(MSP) of cotton due to rise in input costs. BKS has recently organized rallies on cotton price issue at Rajkot, Amreli, Morbi and other places in Saurasthra region.
On 15 December, farmers will hold protest march from Income Tax char rasta to Sardar baug in Ahmedabad. It is not clear whether a public meeting in Sardar baug will be attended by farmers from across the state or farmers from Ahmedabad region only.
The state government has agreed to demands of farmers and asked centre to increase MSP which is at Rs. 800 at present to Rs. 1,000/20 Kg. For some reasons, centre is taking time to take decision.
BKS has in its meeting with state ministers conveyed that the season of cotton purchase will end in next few days, and government must declare its decision on MSP increase at earliest.
