Admin serves notice to cane mills

Muzaffarnagar: The district administration has issued notices to five sugar mills for non-payment of the dues to the sugarcane farmers. Earlier, district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, had asked the mills to repay the debts by October 4. The mills are yet to repay Rs 438 crores to the cane farmers.
The mills that have been served with the notice include, Khatauli, Mansoorpur, Titavi, Khaikhedi and Bhaisana mills.Meanwhile, the organizing secretary of Bhartiya Kisan Sangh (West UP and Uttarakhand unit), Sonpal, said if these mills fail to pay the arrears, the association will organize a massive meeting of thousands of farmers inss Titavi on November 1.
