Ahmedabad: Newsbharati: In order to propose the demand for minimum support price for fruits and vegetables like food grains, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) has organized a huge rally at Gandhinagar on December 15.
Elaborating over the issue, Maganbhai Patel, President of BKS Gujarat, said that the rally is a part of the nation-wide movement intended to gather the attention towards the problems of farmers all over India. This is very essential to curb the exploitation of farmers.
Demanding that farmers must get a minimum price of Rs 5/kg on fruits and vegetables, he said that in case the rates fall, government should purchase fruits and vegetables from the farmers at this price and export them after dehydration.
Expressing the view that government should not impoverish farmers by granting subsidy in each and every respect, Patel said that farmers would be more happy if government would make them earn 15 per cent more on their production cost instead of giving subsidy.
BKS has enlisted a number of farmers’ issues and among these, 34 issues are so grave that they must be addressed immediately with due concern. Some of them are related to Gujarat Government and the other ones are related to the central government.
